18 storied males sweep the dancing floor to perform classical ballet with swashbuckling energy and light hearted comical habits. Indeed, Dance Consortium presents ‘Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo’ who are more widely known as ‘The Trocks’. Their willingness to entertain has seen them draw crowds of all genres over the past four decades.
The Trocks are seasoned travellers having performed in 600 cities across 38 countries, and even appeared in the television documentary Rebels on Pointe in 2017. They have adopted the motto of ‘doubt is one element of faith’ by demonstrating to worldwide audiences that males can dance without two left feet just like their ballerina counterparts.
Amongst the plethora of ballerinos is Carlos Hopuy who comes with an armoury of gold as a result of winning international ballet competitions in Cuba and Japan. The Trocks have also not been shy of silverware, winning awards for achievement and excellence in dance. It would be fitting to label them ‘Trockinators’ or ‘Trockination’ as they have continued to perform in a maverick manner that has spellbound audiences.
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo will return to the UK and for the first time to Ireland courtesy of Dance Consortium, whose overriding aim is to bring ever evolving dancing live to your desired venue. The Trocks’ tour begins on 11th September 2018 at The Peacock Theatre in London and will conclude at The Grand Opera House in Belfast on 3rd November 2018.
